Maximizing Our Snack Storage...Our Pantry

Kitchen pantry with wire shelving.

My kitchen pantry had three wire shelves. Three. Wire. Shelves. We are a family of five so those little shelves were not much storage. I will say the photo of our pantry does make it look small. However, our pantry is deeper than it looks and we were in desperate need in maximizing our snack storage... I mean our pantry.

I wanted to maximize the space of our pantry and make it work for our family. So for the first few months I just dealt with the pantry we had but from time to time I would open my pantry and just try to image what would it could be.

One day, one of the wire shelves looked a little crooked. Since I am not a handy person, I had my husband inspect it. And guess what, the shelf was not on any studs. What does that mean? There was nothing really supporting them so it was a matter of time until it would just fall down!

So I went to the drawing board and designed the pantry in a way that would maximize it. We created l-shaped shelves to add more storage on top. To eliminate the spices on the shelf, we added a spice rack on the side. On the bottom, we added 3 drawers and additional shelving. We used every inch of the pantry.

After taking so much designing this pantry, it deserved to have color. I found the this beautiful flower wallpaper on Amazon that I wanted to use. I took it with me to Lowe’s to find a green for the shelves and very, very light pink for the other walls.

I figured putting wallpaper around the whole pantry may be a little too much. So I just wanted to focus on the back wall. Let me tell you, I love to open that door and just stare at the wallpaper.

We are finally using our pantry to its fullest pontential. Eventually I would like to get matching baskets but for now, it will do.
